Vacancy for Parish Clerk and Responsible Finance Officer
Staverton Parish Council is seeking an experienced, motivated and committed person to take on the post of Clerk to the Council and Responsible Finance Officer.
The post is on the scale SCP 18-31 with an allowance, but salary and conditions will be determined by the Parish Council and will depend on experience and qualifications. The post is mainly home based and the remuneration includes a contribution to telephone and internet costs.
For this varied position, candidates must be computer literate with internet access. Previous experience as a parish clerk or with a local government background would be useful but is not essential as training and support will be provided. Candidates must be willing to undergo professional training as required.
The Clerk is responsible for preparing agendas, taking minutes, dealing with correspondence and emails, managing the accounts, updating the website, liaising with local contractors and liaising with government officials and departments such as planning. It is also the role of the Clerk to ensure that the Parish Council complies with all relevant legislation.
Good communication skills are essential and the successful candidate must possess a high degree of literacy and numeracy coupled with excellent organisational skills.
Attendance is required at 12 Parish Council evening meetings per year which are held monthly on the first Tuesday of the month with occasional additional meetings.
The hours are 26 hours per month.
